Current research in the group
Superconductivity
Current research on superconductivity concentrates on coherent nonlocal effects between two normal metals mediated by a superconductor, thermal transport in normal-metal/superconductor heterostructures, and the interaction between ferromagnetism and superconductivity on the mesoscopic scale.
Nanomagnetics
Research on small magnetic particles focuses on their dynamic response to radiofrequency and microwave radiation. Experimental results are complemented by detailed numerical simulations.
Epitaxial complex oxides
Research on epitaxial manganites, high-temperature superconductors and multiferroics
Carbon nanotubes and graphene
Quantum confinement in low dimensional carbon nanostructures. There is much interest in carbon based electronic systems with reduced dimensionality due to their potential as future electronic devices on nanometer scale. Transport properties as well as thermal properties of these one and two-dimensional carbon nanostructures is our primary interest.
Low temperature scanning probe microscopy
Development of a low temperature, millikelvin range, scanning probe microscope capable of doing atomic force microscopy, magnetic force microscopy and electrostatic force microscopy at temperatures down to 50 mK.
